We were at Alec's bedroom this afternoon, getting ready for a swim...
Alec: "Mom, can you change into your swimsuit now, please?"
Me: "But I was going to help you getting ready with your swimsuit".
Alec: "I can do it by myself. Thank you, though"
Me: "O k a a a y...." I walked away sadly
Alec: "Can you lock the door, too, please?"
Me: "I will close the door but I don't like you locking your door. What if something happens and I couldn't get in?"
Alec: "But if don't lock my room, someone can get in to my bedroom like last night and I get embarrassed. So I'm going to lock the door now. It will be ok. It'd just only a minute, I'll be right out". And politely slam the door on my face...

Just now...
Alec pulled all dining chairs about 1 inch back. He used the dining table to play with his fast cars. He's got distracted by the movie on TV and forgot all about his cars. I asked him to put every thing back with the cars and chairs.
Alec: "I don't like it when you said that"
Me: "What did I say?"
Alec: "You asked me to do this and that and you didn't say please".
Me: "I did say please. I always do. I'm generous with my please. See? Please, please, please?".
Alec: "No. It's too late, now, to say please. I won't do it".
Any excuse for not cleaning up, eh?
