Meany Mom

Astuti picked up Alec from school today and Alec immediately looked for me in my bedroom. After saying 'hi' and giving me a big hug, he went to his room to change out of his uniform. I thought he was playing, but after a few minutes he excitedly dragged me into his bedroom and showed me this scene...He said he needs to show 'everyone' all of his toys. I said it's ok as long as he puts them all back where they belong. He agreed. I heard him screaming and laughing outside, without cleaning his bedroom or doing his homework. So, I told him: no tv, no movie, no playing inside or outside until he cleans his bedroom and does his homework. He was not too happy about it. But he went inside with his unhappy face and said: "I am not happy, Mom".

I was so curious I didn't hear a peep out of him for awhile, so I checked on him. This is what I saw... Though he was not thrilled about what he'd been told, he did it anyway, including his homework. I gave him a kit-kat when he was done for a treat and he smiled ear to ear and forgot why he was "not happy". The day got better when his friend Dasha came over to the house to play. At the end of the day, we had a really happy Alec.
