Exhausting Day

Today was a tough day for Alec. All Alec wanted was to play with Dad this morning. Dad just got back from Bali last night and played with Alec until passed Alec’s bedtime last night. He was dragging going to school and late going into class, too. Dad took Alec to school and sat Alec in his class for a few minutes. Alec was so mad when Dad said he had to go to work and ran out of his class. He unhappily went back to his class and refused to do anything at all. He put his crossed arms on his table and acted angry. He refuses to do anything in class. One lesson led to another, by the time Alec’s teacher started to teach him about vehicles (which one goes on land, on water, and by air), Alec warmed up and got involved with the class again.

Because I went to a parent meeting with Alec’s teacher, the Nanny picked up Alec after school instead. He was in a better mood until he got home and saw me. He asked: “Mom, where did you go? I was looking all over for you”. When I said that I was in a meeting with his teacher, Alec didn’t look happy and said: “I don’t want to go to school”. The clinginess continues…

Alec spent the rest the afternoon playing with his fire truck and his excavators. When bedtime came, he bathed by himself. Unfortunately he refused to put his pajamas on by himself. Alec can be super independent kid, as ever, but when I am around, he refuses to do so, especially today. But tonight I decided to push Alec to be more independent. We had our moment, but were laughing at each other again within half an hour. Alec watched his favorite movie Mr. Bean the cartoon on my bed and fell asleep.
